About Us

The Eastlink Wild Blueberry Centre

Welcome to the Eastlink Wild Blueberry Community Centre—the vibrant heartbeat of Cumberland County. Located at 177 Lower Main Street, our state-of-the-art regional hub is more than just a building; it is a testament to the resilience, unity, and forward-thinking spirit of Oxford and the surrounding communities.

Our Story

In 2018, our town faced an unprecedented challenge when a sudden geological sinkhole claimed our beloved Lions Club Hall. Without a central gathering space, the people, friends and businesses of this industrious area did what they do best: they came together. Through the formation of the Oxford Community Centre Association (OCCA), an incredible partnership between dedicated local and non-local volunteers, community members, corporate donors, and municipal, provincial, and federal governments, we turned a moment of disaster into an opportunity for an extraordinary rebirth.

Completed in early 2026 on the historic grounds of the former Oxford High School, this new $24.5 million, world-class facility was built by the community, for the community.

What We Do

The Eastlink Wild Blueberry Centre is designed to be a welcoming, inclusive space for generations to come. As a modern, net-zero carbon facility we are proud to lead the way in environmental responsibility while offering top-tier amenities, including:

  • Health & Wellness: A full-sized regional gymnasium, fitness center and walking track to keep our community active.
  • Lifelong Learning: The brand-new Oxford Branch of the Cumberland Public Libraries, offering resources and programs for all ages.
  • Family Support: A dedicated, fully funded YMCA child-care facility providing trusted care for local families.
  • Gathering & Connection: A community kitchen, multi-purpose meeting rooms, and event spaces designed to host everything from local business conferences to cultural celebrations.
  • Support for New Residents through YREACH: A provincial YMCA Program to provide place-based settlement and language support

Our Mission

Our mission is to foster a healthy, connected, and thriving region by providing accessible spaces and diverse programming that enrich the lives of everyone in Oxford and northern Nova Scotia. Whether you are here to focus on physical fitness, shoot some hoops, drop your children off at daycare, or simply share a coffee with a neighbor, you belong here.
